KGNC News Talk 710 AM

Before a packed house of family, friends and community supporters Amarillo Attorney Ginger Nelson announced her run for mayor of the city at the Amarillo College Byrd Business center. Nelson said she is excited for the opportunity and stated “I can no longer stand on the sidelines and watch as our city is distracted from the things that are important. As a mother, small business owner, taxpayer and community volunteer, I understand what is important. We must have fresh leadership and new ideas. We must have stability, and we must get back to the basics of running our city and building for our future.”

Mrs. Nelson added that her main focus, if elected will be to improve streets and roads making sure those projects are done in a timely manner and on budget. She also will address the rising crime rate and bringing jobs to the city. Nelson added “As mayor, I will focus on making Amarillo more “user friendly” and improving customer service. Our residents deserve answers and top-notch customer service when they experience problems with water bills or essential city services. To be successful in this area, we must also support our hard-working city staff and make sure they have the resources to meet the needs of our citizens.”
